The Andreas H. Bitesnich Summer Workshop is designed for anyone who loves photography, whether budding amateur or seasoned professional. It is divided roughly into three parts:
Andreas H. Bitesnich shares his vast amount of experience and prolific knowledge unreservedly, firstly through his lecture: part life-history, part life-coaching, Andreas describes each step of his spectacular career, which now spans over 25 years in the worlds of art, travel and advertising. Whether you are a passionate amateur considering photography as a career, or a professional photographer looking for a change of direction, Bitesnich’s entertaining and fascinating lecture is guaranteed to inspire and motivate. Obviously, owing to the international mix of participants, Andreas’s workshop lectures are always given in English.
However well-motivated, the technical aspects of photography are as important. Before you begin shooting your own projects, Andreas himself gives a demo shoot with one of our professional models, to guide you through the key elements. Everything from the technical (camera work and lighting), through the creative (set and styling), to the social (working with models) is dealt with clearly and concisely.
The second part is the ‘hands on’ section, where you are given the chance to work with professional female and male models, and, with the technical support of the industry’s best (including the latest cameras and lenses from CANON, and flash equipment from HENSEL), are encouraged to let your creativity loose. You have the possibility of shooting on three different studio situations, plus a range of outdoor locations, all of which are situated on campus. As well as Andreas, our team of professionals (see section ‘The Crew’) is constantly on hand to provide advice and assistance.
Finally, the third part is selection and post-production, a vital aspect of digital photography. Retouching, cropping, and the creation of looks or moods, can vastly increase the success of an image. Andreas guides you step-by-step through the most important features of post-production. Here we are aided vastly by the support of EIZO, who provide monitors for each participant, DATACOLOR, who calibrate the monitors, HAHNEMÜHLE who supply us with printing paper, and CANON again, who provide the printer. This vital technical support, assures that the conditions under which you work is as close to Andreas’s own professional standards as possible.
As the entire workshop is based on campus, co-operation is high on our agenda. As well as working together, you will have the chance to socialize at meal times and evenings with Andreas, the team, and of course your fellow participants.
“I have been giving photographic workshops for many years now, but am still amazed at how much participants develop in both skill and confidence during this one intense week. Look forward to seeing you there!”
